On February 8, 1986 Pope John Paul II beatified  her at Kottayam. Shewas the first lady of Indian origin to be beatified by the Catholic Church.

The two-storey structure in front of the Chapel was originally the podium used by Pope John Paul II at Kottayam during the beatification ceremony.

On June 1, 2007 Pope Benedict XVI authorised her canonization, the proceedings of which will be completed in 2008.
